Borneo’s wet jungles are home to one of the sweetest baccaurea fruit species, Baccaurea pyriformis. The fruits are produced on a stalk in clusters that resemble longans in certain ways. The eatable fruit is collected in the wild for local consumption and occasionally sold in nearby markets. Fruits can be eaten raw, and the flesh, which is a vibrant orange colour, is very sweet and juicy.
