A relatively rare tropical rainforest evergreen tree species of the family Moraceae, the bondon (Artocarpus brevipedunculatus), can reach a height of 25 metres. It is a relative of breadfruit and jackfruit. The tree is native to Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and northern Borneo. Locals prize the fruit, which is frequently collected in the wild. One of the greatest tasting artocarpus is known to come from Bondon. Raw fruit can be consumed. The fruit’s vibrant orange flesh is extremely sweet, juicy, and flavorful. Fruit typically develops from seeds after three to four years.
