A recently identified extremely uncommon passiflora species is passiflora cerasina. only found in the Guianas. It is a fast-growing climbing plant that can reach a length of 30 feet and thrives in mildly humid environments. The edible fruit is both foraged in the wild and grown in gardens. Fruits taste delicious, resembling a cross between Passiflora nitida and Passiflora laurifolia in terms of flavour.
