Plants known as Blue Jaboticaba/Myrciaria Vexator are indigenous to tropical America. The blue grape, Myrciaria Vexatori, is actually a species of myrtle rather than a true grape belonging to the family Vitaceae. Because the fruit’s flavour is similar to that of jaboticaba trees, they are sometimes known as False Jaboticaba trees. If you live in a warm area, consider growing false jaboticaba because it makes wonderful fruit and is also a beautiful tree.
Slow-growing blue jaboticaba is an attractive shrub. They produce thick-skinned fruits with a delightfully grape-like sweet flesh enclosing one or two seeds. Mildly aromatic and savoury describe the flavour.
