Tropical fruit trees known as Diospyros/Black Sapota and persimmons of the Nigeria species are native to Mexico, Central America, and Colombia. This fruit is also known by the names Black Soap Apple, Chocolate Pudding Fruit, and Zapote Prieto (in Spanish). In common usage, “sapote” refers to any soft, edible fruit. There is no connection between a white sapote, a Mamey sapote, and a black sapote.
Black sapotes resemble tomatoes; when ripe, their skin changes from olive to a rich yellow-green, and their pulp transforms from white and inedible to one that is frequently compared to chocolate pudding non terms of flavour, appearance, and texture. According to the description, the ripe fruit has “the flavour and consistency of chocolate pudding.” Black sapote fruit has a flavour that is similar to chocolate in that it is velvety, alluring, sweet, and custardy.
The fruit has a wide range of physiological and nutritional benefits. It gives your body the right amount of vitamin C so that it can stay healthy. Vitamin C helps the body’s immune system by fending off harmful bacteria and viruses. The antioxidants in the fruit help the body fight off damage from free radicals and protect it against chronic diseases like cancer, heart disease, and diabetes. Natural vitamin A is present in it, which promotes healthy cell division in the body and improves vision.
