An evergreen tree called the bitter kola or garcinia kola is native to West and Central Africa.

Additionally, it functions as a broad anti-infective agent and yields brown, nut-like seeds that resemble kidney beans. Fruits are spherical berries that occasionally have a small flattening. They taste quite bitter and are practically identical to coffee seeds. They also have a little sweetness to them.

Bitter kola trees require a warm climate. To grow a kola nut, tree soil must be deeply rich and fertile and well drained. Accumulation of water must be avoided except in dry weather conditions. The plant grows well in coastal areas and rainforest conditions.
