A hybrid cultivar named Bangkok Chamba/Syzygium Samarangense originated in Bangkok.
When the fruit is fully mature, it will expand outward and have a little concavity in the centre of the underside of the “bell.” Healthy wax apples have a slight shine on them. Despite its name, a ripe wax apple only seems to be an apple on the outside. It doesn’t have the apple’s scent or firmness, despite being almost as good. The wax apple has a flavour similar to a snow pear and has a flesh-to-liquid ratio similar to a watermelon. In contrast to either apple or watermelon, the wax apple’s flesh has an extremely loose weave.
Common Name: Water Apple, Bangkong Chamba
