The fast-growing, vining Atherton Raspberry will develop from rhizomes that are buried beneath the ground. Each cane can reach a height of 3–9 feet/1-3 metres. has a few little thorns. It is a wild, tropical raspberry that is indigenous to Papua New Guinea and Australia. Although there are very small commercial plants, the red, edible fruits are typically collected from the wild. The berries turn red as they ripen and have a sweeter flavour than regular raspberries.
