Araca Piranga/Eugenia Multicostata is a semi-deciduous tree that is indigenous to southern and eastern Brazil in South America. For domestic usage, the eatable fruit is foraged from the wild. The tree is occasionally planted for decorative purposes. The fruit is around 3 cm diameter and 4 cm long. The thin-skinned fruit can be eaten raw or cooked to make jellies and desserts. Its thick, mushy, succulent pulp has a very pleasant, acidic flavour.
