An indigenous plant species to Colombia and Ecuador is called Annona Quinduensis, and it belongs to the Annonaceae family. The species was originally formally described by botanist Carl Sigismund Kunth, who gave it the name Quindo after the department of Colombia where the specimen he studied was found. The fruits are edible and have a luscious, melting flesh with a very nice flavour.
