The most well-known of the roughly 50 species of Pourouma in tropical South America and Central America is the Amazon Tree-Grape/Uvilla of the Moraceae family. Leaf scars can be seen on the grey bark. The nearly round alternating leaves on long petioles are deeply divided into obovate oblong-lanceolate lobes. The tree naturally grows in Brazil’s western Amazonas region as well as nearby regions in Ecuador and Peru.
A low, dense crown characterises the Amazon Tree Grape tree. It produces clusters of purple, rough-skinned fruits that resemble grapes. Even though the fruit is easily peelable, the pulp is white, juicy, and delicious. This fruit supports weight loss, diabetes management, belly fat reduction, and heart disease prevention.
