Small maroon-brown segments cover the hard, glossy, and rough skin, giving it a snake-like, scaled look. The flesh is often bright yellow, thin, creamy, and semi-oily beneath the surface, encasing a sizable, thick, and oval, brown seed. Aguaje has a rich flavour that combines sweet, salty, and sharp notes.with a little acidity The skin and flesh colours of the several Aguaje variants found in the Amazon are frequently used to classify them. Each variety may also have a slightly distinct texture and flavour. It is a major source of vitamin A, an antioxidant with anti-inflammatory qualities that supports good skin maintenance and guards against vision loss.
