The Mamey Africana tree, which may grow to a height of 40 metres (120 feet), is an African relative of the Mamey Apple. Although the tree is simple to grow and has been successfully cultivated in plantations, its development is slow and it provides overhead shadowing. comparable to its more well-known sister, the tree produces medium-sized to huge, brown fruits. Its flesh is hard, thick, and fibrous, and it has an apricot-like scent and flavour. Fruits are cut open and their flesh eaten after they soften. The fruit is a huge, pale yellow to orange, globose to pear-shaped drupe that can range in length from 7 to 18 cm and contains one to four enormous, ovoid seeds that are each between 4 and 6 cm long. and the tree is renowned for bearing abundantly.
