The Ceylon Olive Plant, or Elaeocarpus Serratus, is a member of the family Elaeocarpaceae and is indigenous to countries in eastern Asia, including India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Malaysia, and Indonesia. It is an evergreen tree that can go as tall as 18 metres. For its edible fruit and therapeutic uses, the tree is gathered from the wild as well as occasionally from cultivation. You can consume fruits either raw or cooked. It is fleshy and tastes subacidly delicious. They can be included into curries and pickled, similar to olives. The fruit is a healthy herbal plant that is used to treat a number of disorders and has nutritional and therapeutic benefits.
